Afraid I might have tonsil cancer?

I read some symptoms are white patches in the back of the throat which I have, and one tonsil being larger than the other, my left tonsil is much bigger than my right and while it doesn't cause pain I can feel it while swallowing, is this bad and I should go to a doctor or is it allergies or something? I'm pretty freaked out by it. I can supply an image if needed (It probably won't be the best quality.

You probably have an infection. The tonsil is connected to the lymphatic system, which responds to infections. The small white patches are also indicative of an infection, not a tumor.



But abnormal swelling of the tonsil is pretty easy to see. Go see a doctor or dentist. I had head and neck cancer that started in my tonsil and metastasized in my neck. I did not find it until I found a very large tumor in my neck. Treatment sucked, but I got through it.



Other than the tumor, I had zero symptoms, so if you have anything that might be infection like, this is the most likely scenario.



Tonsil cancer used to associated with long term drinking and smoking, and that was in older folks. Now, the main cause is HPV, just like cervical cancer in women. So if you have been vaccinated against HPV, or if you have not been sexually active, it is even less likely that this would be cancer. But hey, go see a doctor.
