He battled cancer and was taken off of life support Oct 24, 2007. Josh died October 25, 2007. I do not know if he made the Guiness World Record book or not.

Final Update: Joshua Paul Adkins, age 13, of Stanford, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at UK Medical Center in Lexington after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Born September 23, 1994, in Boyle County, Kentucky, he is a son of Paul and Lisa King Adkins. He was a Student at Lincoln County Middle School. He was a football and baseball player and avid UK Football fan. He also enjoyed WWE Wrestling. Josh had a wish to be in the world book of records by getting the most get well cards anyone has ever received. He received thousands upon thousands of cards from all over the world. Survivors include his mother, Lisa King Adkins of Stanford; father, Paul (Debbie) Adkins of West Liberty; paternal grandparents, George and Letha Adkins of West Liberty; maternal grandparents, Carolyn Murphy of Stanford and Robert King of Stanford; sister, Laura Adkins of Stanford; and several aunts and uncles also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Erwin and Rev. Morris Trayner officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
