Question:
Lymph node biopsy question?

Seems like a silly question but if you had a lymph node biopsy but have multiple swollen lymph nodes but only one was being tested would this definitely show the problem?

Just curious as to whether the diagnosis is found in all or just a particular node?

Thank you!

There's a test to identify the first affected node. You do know that lymph nodes are part of your immune system and react to infection?

You are an obvious hypochondriac looking for a reason to panic. Grow up and stop posting idiocy and start trusting your doctor. If you don't trust him enough to believe his diagnosis that tells me one of two things either you think your doctor isn't any good (doubtful) or you are a hypochondriac idiot that will never be satisfied with good medical news. My money is on you being more interested in pretending to always have one foot in the grave no matter how healthy you actually are.

Depends on which nodes and why the biopsy is being done.

If cancer is suspected, the biopsy would be preceded by a PET scan, and they would biopsy the largest and/or most accessible node that lit up.

It depends entirely why the biopsy is being done, the type of biopsy, and the likely outcomes.

In needle biopsies, a node has to be a certain size before it can reasonably be biopsied. These tests are generally done to determine if further investigation is indicated.

In an excisional biopsy the whole node is removed. This causes side effects that can be uncomfortable and permanent in some cases so not to be undertaken lightly.

These are generally done when a needle biopsy indicates a need, when other testing indicate a need, as part of cancer surgery to investigate spread. These can be of a single node or a cluster of nodes. Where a clustet is removed every node in the cluster is biopsied.
