Question:
How come the news only refers to Lance Armstrong as a "Cancer Survivor", and not a "Testicle Cancer Survivor"?

Whenever you hear about female Athletes who had breast cancer, they are referred to as a BREAST Cancer Survivor. The same applies to other cancers in men and men. When it comes to the women they are a "...... Survivor" and not just a Cancer Survivor like men are referred to.

Probably just the wording usually they will say he is a cancer survivor who had testicular cancer. As for breast cancer, although it is a serious and devastating disease, it has also become 'popular' due to the extraordinary publicity and campaign from powerful breast cancer groups and organizations.

Women get other types of cancer besides breast cancer . . such as sarcoma or lung or colon cancers . . Farah Fawcett had anal cancer . . . but she didn't survive.

What one of the previous posters said was true. A lot of female athletes endorse breast cancer research and insist on always being associated with breast cancer for this reason. That being said, Lance Armstrong is often referred to as a Survivor of Testicular Cancer. It's a wide spread fact that that's what he survived. So, I'm not sure why you think he isn't referred to as a Testicular Cancer Survivor.

Another thing to consider is that breast cancer is huge in the media, so the media may be influencing what types of cancers are talked about. Testicular cancer isn't mentioned as frequently (the same can be said of Ovarian Cancer, Colon Cancer, Lung Cancer, etc.). So, the media may play up the breast cancer reference to gain sympathy from readers. Adding the word "Breast" in front of "Cancer Survivor" tends to have that effect because of the publicity of the disease (think pink ribbons and breast cancer awareness month...they are a huge hit with women). Adding the word "Testicular" does not have this same effect, which is why it may sometimes go unmentioned.

This isn't a promotion of men over women or a discriminatory act in any way, it's simply what the media is focused on now.

Lance had a ordinary testicular maximum cancers with lung and strategies mets. His interview on CNN became into directed on the present assertion that the government became into reducing maximum cancers analyze investment. The testicular maximum cancers is what everybody recollects, yet metastatized maximum cancers is often the frightening section. His internet internet site talks a sprint relating to the mets, yet no longer lots.

While his original cancer was testicular cancer and he was treated for this, his cancer spread (metastasized) and he has also been treated for cancer in other areas.

Given he promotes the idea that we can fight cancer wherever it occurs, he probably doesn't want the press to concentrate on his initial cancer alone.
